MedSQL Overview

Application Overview:

MedSQL is a free electronic medical records application for individual practitioners  or larger clinics developed in British Columbia.  MedSQL has the following features:

  • Electronic charts based on SOAP codes, and scanned documents, electronic notes and electronic documents added from other sources.
  • Automatic Electronic Lab Transfers from Excelleris.  Lab results are transferred  into the patient charts with a build in messaging system that alerts doctors when lab results are partial or complete. Once complete they digitally signed by the reviewing doctor.  All lab transactions are logged for auditing,
  • MSP, WCB billing, direct or third-party billing.  Billing can be done by using the keyboard only, the mouse is not required for data entry.  Billing cards can be printed that include a bar code that speeds up the billing process.
  • Scheduling for Patients and Doctors.  The scheduling provides for scheduling based on appointment type,  easily reschedule doctor appointments and bulk schedules. It provides all the necessary tools to keep a busy clinic on track.
  • Create prescriptions and have a quick overview of all medication prescribed.
  • Provide Flow sheets for Chronic Decease Management.
  • As electronic chart implementation is a daunting process,  MedSQL the ability to move your paper charts to electronic charts at your comfort level.
  • Customization.  Some of our clients have unique requirements.  Therefore we provide customization to all of our in-house developed applications.

Technology Overview:

  • Web applications are  the flavour of the month, but not unlike iPhone apps runs on an Apple iPhone, the MedSQL client runs on a Windows Workstations. Load it on your Windows-based laptop and have access from anywhere with an Internet connection.
  • MedSQL provides secure access from remote locations using the Internet and resides behind your firewall on your secure network.
  • The Database Server is on one of the most advanced open source database running on Linux or Windows Servers and Windows workstations.  In very small installations with 3 or 4 workstations the database back-end can run on a windows based workstations.
  • There are a number of redundancy scenarios available for data security.
  • Maintain control of your own records.  Unlike medical records in PITO authorized applications the Doctor does not have to go into a binding agreement with the software vendor. The patient records are the property of the MedSQL user, stored wherever dictated by the user.

The Cost

MedSQL is free to download and use without expiry.  For download instructions navigate to the contacts page and email us so we can email you the download link. The Server and database is on open source and therefore is free to download and install.  The Microsoft windows version of the database is also free to download and use.  All we charge for is training, installation and  optional support.  Support is provided on an hourly base or a support agreement.  Support agreements include the latest updates to the software.
