Database Backend.

The data storage is done on Postgresql (http://www.postgresql.org), one of the most powerful open source databases.  By design, it is an ideal data storage back-end for a demanding business application.  Its SQL implementation strongly conforms to the ANSI-SQL:2008 standard. It includes data integrity features and a host of extensions and advanced features.  It is able to be run on Linux and Microsoft Windows servers or smaller installation can use Microsoft Professional XP or newer workstations.

Investment Protection.

The open source database can be installed and distributed for free and is free to use for anybody. This greatly reduces the cost of user licensing and cost of the database.  Maintenance agreements for ActiumERP are available based on user count.  Maintenance agreements do not just include updates but also upgrades.  This means that users with a maintenance agreement will always enjoy the latest version of the software without having to purchase an upgrade. Systems are expanded by purchasing additional user licenses.
